Does the government owe you money? If you want to find out, it's easy to check if you have unclaimed money or property from the government.
You can find a comprehensive list of sites to check for unclaimed money and property at http://www.usa.gov/Citizen/Topics/Money_Owed.shtml
Also, be sure to check if your state government owes you money. Find a list of state sites for unclaimed money at http://www.unclaimed.org/.
Even if you don't think you have any unclaimed money, go ahead and check... you never know what you may find!

Thanks so much for this post! I just found money owed to my brother from his state's department of taxation. Nothing for me though unfortunately. I never would have thought to look into this.
