How to get phone service for only $20 a year
We recently learned about a great offer where you can try Magic Jack free for 30 days! For those of you who aren’t familiar with Magic Jack, Magic Jack is a little device that you plug into your computer’s USB port to get phone service. And the best part is Magic Jack offers phone service for only $19.95 per year. (Yes, I said per year, not per month… only $19.95 per year!)
Magic Jack offers lots of free features like free long distance/local calls, free international calls, free voicemail, free call waiting, free three way calling, and free call forwarding.
We personally know of people who use Magic Jack and LOVE it! (And they especially love the price, lol!)
If you’ve ever thought about trying Magic Jack, this is a great offer! They are offering a 30 day risk free trial. If you are interested, I recommend you sign up ASAP, before this offer ends.
Even if you have never thought about trying Magic Jack, this is something you may want to consider, as where else can you find phone service for $20 bucks a year these days?

My husband bought this several months ago because he heard about it on a talk radio show he listens to. The radio host raved so much about it that my husband decided to buy it and prepay another year on it, through 2010. We chose not to have landline phones several years ago and only use our cell phones. I can tell you that it is one of the most absolutely worst things we have. First of all, where we live, we were assigned a number with an area code from the other side of our state. So anytime someone wants to call us using this number, it is considered long distance for them. The reception is full of static and since it uses the internet, we have to make sure the internet is not used in order to make or receive calls. We are stuck with it for nearly 2 years and I hope to convince my husband not to renew it at all.

Sorry to hear it didn’t work well where you live.
We know of several people who personally use Magic Jack and really like it, or we would not have posted about it. I guess that is what makes this trial offer for Magic Jack even better, the fact that you can try it and see if you like it for free. If you don’t, you send it back, end of story.
Have you considered Vonage? We use that right now and really like it. We do not have a local phone number either (only because we live in the middle of nowhere!!!!), but since it’s free for us to call anywhere (including Canada), it doesn’t matter. People can call us and we call them right back. Perhaps this would work in your situation with Magic Jack.
Also, if you are interested in Vonage, you can get 2 months for free when you sign up, if you sign up through our Vonage link (see the link to Vonage in our right hand column). Thanks for your comment!

My brother in law just got Magic Jack, and said that he got to pick out whatever number he wanted, and pick out whatever area code as well. We looked at the website, and it seems to be true, according to the videos on the site. I think it said that it only takes a few minutes to hook it up and pick your number. Also, with the internet, anybody should be able to have multiple internet connections in the same home, with only one monthly price. Just get them all hooked up, and you have your phone and internet, too. But then, maybe you have to have more than one computer, like us. We are hooking up Magic Jack to a desktop tower that we don’t use anymore.
